Our Summer Associates' Program is intended to
introduce you to our firm culture and our practice, and to provide you
with an opportunity to contribute to the services that we provide to
our clients. This is also a chance for you to demonstrate your
abilities and your potential towards becoming a New Associate
with Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda upon graduation from law school.
Our program will provide Summer Associates with a variety of
assignments and experiences and with an opportunity to work with as
many of the attorneys in our firm as possible. In addition to research
assignments, there will be opportunities for you to meet with clients,
attend depositions and court and arbitration hearings as well as weekly
educational lunches. Summer Associates will participate in other facets
of Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda practice and participate in
numerous social activities throughout the summer; allowing Summer
Associates to meet and interact with lawyers and staff members on an
informal basis.
An associate of Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda will be assigned as a
mentor to help involve Summer Associates in the practice of law, as
well as the many business and social opportunities available.
Interviewing
Each year attorneys from
Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda visit and conduct on-campus interviews
at the William S. Richardson School of Law (University of Hawaii --
Manoa campus) and select West Coast law schools to meet with second
year law students. During these visits, attorneys meet with
self-motivated, team-oriented and well-rounded students to determine
their practice area of interest and their interest in practicing with
our firm. We also review the candidate's academic credentials, legal
training and other experiences. Upon request, the firm may grant
interviews at our offices if students are visiting or returning to
Hawaii. Travel and other expenses shall be the responsibility of the
student.
Kobayashi,
Sugita & Goda also participates in resume collection from
interested second year law students from select law schools. Interested
candidates should submit a resume along with a cover letter, a legal
writing sample, transcripts and personal references to your respective
career services center.
