Mr. Ichikawa joined the law firm that is
today Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda in 1987 and has been a
partner of the firm since 1994. Prior to joining the firm, Mr.
Ichikawa attendedTokyo University to study International
Business transactions and interned at Showa Law Office in
Tokyo during the summer of
1985.
Mr. Ichikawa handles corporate and
transactional work, government affairs, administrative law and
liquor licenses and heads the Immigration Section for the
firm. Mr. Ichikawa has worked on numerous business
transactions and assists clients on general corporate matters
from the formation and start up of operations to advising
clients regarding ongoing business
concerns.
Mr. Ichikawa also has extensive
experience in immigration law and combines his background in
corporate law to advise hotels, restaurants, health care
institutions, financial institutions, computer companies and
entrepreneurs on complex petitions and visa applications that
allow foreign nationals employment in the U.S.
Mr. Ichikawa was featured in Honolulu
magazine as one of "Hawaii's Top Lawyers" in
Immigration Law. He has also been selected and listed
nationally in the
Best Lawyers in America and
Who's Who in American Law
for his work in the area of Immigration
Law. He is the Past-President of the Hawaii Chapter of the
American Immigration Lawyers Association and has lectured at
various seminars in the area of Immigration
Law.
Mr. Ichikawa has also participated in
the Meeting of Consul Generals and the Ambassador from
Japan to
bridge U.S.
and Japan
relations and in March of 2006, was one of fifteen Japanese
Americans selected nationally to represent Japanese American
Leaders in a delegation to Japan at the invitation of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Mr.
Ichikawa continues to maintain a leadership role in Japanese
Americans and Japan
relations.
He is a member of the Hawaii
State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the
American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Japan Hawaii Economic
Council and the Hawaii Asia Pacific Association. Mr. Ichikawa also sits
on the Board of Directors of Atlas Insurance Agency and the
Japan America Society.
In his spare time, he also assists in various community
services, including coaching youth baseball and
football.
