Mr.
Goda was admitted to the Hawaii Bar in 1970 and served for one year
as Law Clerk to Justice Masaji Marumoto of the Hawaii Supreme Court.
He served as a Deputy Attorney General, State of Hawaii in the area
of environmental law until 1973, when he joined and was later made
a partner of the law firm of Padgett, Greeley and Marumoto. In 1975,
Mr. Goda accepted an invitation to become a partner in the law firm
which is today Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda.
Mr. Goda's primary focus
over the recent years has been to represent foreign and domestic
clients in all phases of their business activities. His work includes
mergers and acquisitions, real property development, real property
transactions, and other legal matters relating to insurance, government
regulations, transportations, estates, trust banking and finance.
Having lived in Japan, Mr. Goda is fluent in the Japanese language
and he has assisted clients based in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the
United States and Hawaii in all phases of their business endeavors.
Mr. Goda served in the
U.S. Army Armor Corps and attained the rank of Captain. He resigned
his commission in 1975. Mr. Goda is a member of the Hawaii State
Bar Association.
He has also served, since 1993, as Chairman of the Board for Pacific
Guardian Life Insurance Company, Limited, and, since 2004, as Chairman
of the Board for Prince Resorts Hawaii, Inc.
